Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially hit theatres worldwide and is being praised as one of Tom Holland's best so far. After a trilogy of Jon Watts movies, the most recent instalment introduces a new director for the MCU's web-slinger, though not entirely new for the MCU as a whole, being Destin Daniel Cretton. Cretton started his Marvel career with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, hot off the resounding success of the Michael B. Jordan-starring Just Mercy.

Due to the incredible reception of Shang-Chi, it seems Cretton was awarded the keys to Marvel's city, so to speak, with his second cinema outing for the studio being Spider-Man: Brand New Day, one of - if not the most bankable Marvel character ever. After the release of No Way Home, audiences were asking for something different, opening the door for Cretton to introduce more practicality in this franchise's action sequences and suits, as well as simply its sets, making for more tangible-feeling worlds.

Many of Brand New Day's swinging sequences are done practically, through real streets while wearing real costumes. This is an incredibly admirable move from Cretton and Holland, as well as Marvel Studios as a whole, as it makes these scenes feel and look so much more real, not to mention taking a weight off the visual effects team, allowing them to focus their energy on more CGI-intensive moments.

What is Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker shortly after the events of No Way Home, in which everybody forgot who he is. With Aunt May deceased and Ned and MJ not knowing who he is, Peter sinks all his energy into being Spider-Man, making it his full-time job and main persona.

When Peter's powers begin to mutate, giving him unbearably enhanced senses and newly organic webs, he runs to Bruce Banner, now equipped with an inhibitor to keep the Hulk at bay, for help. Parker asks Bruce if this inhibitor can be used to suppress parts of a power, allowing the 'good parts' to stay, in search of a cure for his newest mutation.

While Peter navigates his recent troubles, a new villain enters the scene, one that nobody can see except Spider-Man. As this new threat puts the lives of those Peter promised to keep safe at risk, he must find a way to help the ones he loves while figuring out what - or who - this new villain may be.

What Locations Can I Visit From Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

New York Tank Chase - Bothwell Street, Glasgow

While this movie is set entirely within New York City, it was never actually filmed there. Instead, much of this was filmed around parts of the UK - namely, this scene in Glasgow, Scotland. Throughout this scene, Spider-Man is trying, and ultimately failing, to stop a tank barreling through the streets of New York. Frank Castle, the Punisher, shows up and attempts to also fight this tank, yet with much more lethal force than Peter, establishing his ever-present moral standards. Around the end of this scene, we're introduced to the main antagonist of this movie, the threat we cannot see.

Bothwell Street was dressed up incredibly well as New York, and built sets at Pinewood Studios were used to fool the audience even more. While you watch, you'd have absolutely no idea this wasn't filmed on the streets of New York, no matter how closely you watch.

Bothwell Street is a regular business and office district within Glasgow; this would be incredibly easy to visit, granted you're near or have the capacity to visit Glasgow.

Damage Control HQ - Senate House, Bloomsbury

Throughout this movie, Spider-Man works closely with Damage Control, seen throughout the MCU in previous projects - such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ms. Marvel, and Wonder Man. Various moments in this movie show Peter entering Damage Control HQ to discuss their newest threat.

These scenes take place in and around Senate House, Bloomsbury, London - specifically using the southwest entrance. Senate House is located just next to the British Museum, and the building is free to enter - as long as you're a library member, University of London student or staff member, or a visitor with a valid day ticket.

Empire State University - Hertfordshire County Hall

Peter Parker's powers are mutating, causing him to become more spider than man if not stopped soon. His senses become unbearably heightened, and he gains organic webs, so he looks for some sort of cure. Peter finds Bruce Banner, now a professor at Empire State University, as simply Bruce Banner - no Hulk. This is because he developed an inhibitor which he wears at all times. Parker asks the professor if this can be developed for other powers, as well as to only stop selected mutations.

This is an incredibly important scene within the movie, acting as a catalyst for the villain to resent Parker much more personally than before. The background used here is Hertfordshire County Hall, which you're unfortunately unable to enter publicly.

Roosevelt Island Experimental Facility - Dorchester Prison

There will be spoilers in this segment, so if you haven't seen Spider-Man: Brand New Day yet, click away now. Within this scene, Peter realises what Damage Control really wants with Jean Grey, and why she's been attacking their facilities throughout the movie. He attempts to enter the facility in which Damage Control is experimenting on Jean - the same one that they used to experiment on her sister, Sarah - but is met with waves of people under Jean's control.

Peter must fight The Hand, a highly skilled clan of ninjas, all under the control of Jean Grey's power, to stop her from killing everybody in a mile's radius. These scenes are filmed within Dorchester Prison, located in Dorset, in southwest England. Surprisingly, you are able to enter this prison, though only for scheduled public events like guided tours, ghost hunts, and airsoft games.
